A leading international competition organized by the New York chapter of the American Institute of Architects, the AIANY Design Awards recognize outstanding architectural design by AIANY members, New York City architects, or architects from around the world whose projects are sited in New York City. AIANY asked us to create a visual identity and exhibition design that centers inclusion and equity in the built environment while conveying the stature of the awards. The design deploys declarative multilingual typography to signal a welcoming ethos, recognizing the diversity of New York City—a home to immigrants with 10 citywide designated languages.
